The Election Commission will hold the second meeting-cum-election workshop for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLA-2) at all polling stations across Jharkhand on July 14 as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. The meeting will be conducted from 11 a.m. to 12 noon with the objective of ensuring an error-free and updated voter list.
During the session, officials will review the Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate (ASDD) list and discuss cases of unmapped voters whose records are yet to be verified. The Election Commission has urged voters, social activists, former polling agents and representatives of political parties to actively participate in the exercise.
According to the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, the SIR campaign aims to ensure that no eligible voter is left out and no ineligible person is included in the electoral roll. Citizens have been advised to submit their enumeration forms to their respective BLOs within the stipulated timeline and rectify any discrepancies without delay.
The voter verification drive has gained significant momentum across the state. Official figures show that 83.40% of voters have already received enumeration forms, while 5,336 polling stations have achieved 100% distribution. BLOs have been instructed to complete door-to-door distribution, collect filled forms, digitise records and carry out voter mapping simultaneously.
To strengthen the revision process, the Election Commission has also appointed additional Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) in six Assembly constituencies, including Ranchi, Hatia, Khijri, Silli, Tamar and Pakur. The appointments will remain effective until the completion of the Special Intensive Revision exercise.
The Election Commission of India has announced the Special Intensive Revision, SIR Phase-III, which will be conducted in a phased manner across sixteen states and three Union Territories.
The states included in this phase are Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Sikkim, Tripura, Telangana, and Uttarakhand. The Union Territories covered are the National Capital Territory of Delhi, Chandigarh, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
SIR is a participative exercise involving all stakeholders including electors, political parties and election officials. ECI has requested all political parties to appoint BLAs for each Polling Booth, in order to ensure full participation of political parties so that SIR is conducted with complete transparency and full participation of political parties.
