Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Pramod Kumar Singh, 55, posted at India Reserve Battalion-1 (IRB-1) in Jhiluwa, Jamtara, died suddenly on Thursday evening. He was accorded a guard of honour by police personnel at the IRB-1 camp on Friday.
After post-mortem, the officer’s mortal remains were brought to the IRB-1 camp with full honours. Senior police officers and personnel paid their respects by laying wreaths and offering floral tributes.
According to preliminary information, Singh suddenly collapsed at around 7 pm after returning from duty. He was reportedly in the kitchen when he fell unconscious. He was rushed to Paras Hospital in Jamtara, where doctors declared him dead. Doctors said he had apparently died before reaching the hospital.
Jamtara Superintendent of Police Shambhu Kumar Singh and other senior police officials reached the hospital after receiving information about the incident and completed the necessary formalities.
Following the post-mortem on Friday, the body was taken to the IRB-1 camp, where police personnel gave him a ceremonial farewell with a guard of honour.
Singh was originally from Ara in Bihar, while his family currently resides in Kathal More, Ranchi. His sudden death has cast a pall of gloom over the police department. Colleagues remembered him as a dedicated and responsible officer.
The exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem report is received.
