Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the redeveloped Piska and Muri railway stations on Friday, railway officials said. The two stations have been revamped at a cost of Rs 10 crore each under the Railways’ Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) and will be inaugurated along with 73 other redeveloped stations across the country.
Construction work at the two stations began in 2023. The redevelopment includes renovated station buildings, new circulating and parking areas, lifts, foot overbridges, platform shelters, waiting rooms, booking counters, water booths, train and coach indicator boards, seating arrangements, and Divyangjan-friendly facilities such as ramps, tactile tiles and accessible toilets. The stations also have new façades reflecting local art and culture.
Developed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Piska and Muri railway stations are now equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. To provide a better experience to passengers, the station buildings have been given a brand-new look. The station premises now feature which includes– modern waiting rooms, clean drinking water and hygienic toilets, Divyangjan (differently-abled) friendly facilities, upgraded lighting systems and attractive entrance gates, advanced passenger information systems and other basic amenities, according to the railways, the development of these stations will also directly benefit passengers from the surrounding rural areas.
The Ranchi Railway Division has sped up preparations for the inaugural ceremony. Special attention is being paid to the cleanliness, painting, decoration, and security arrangements of the station premises. Different responsibilities have been assigned to officials to ensure the successful execution of the event.
“The inauguration of Piska and Muri railway stations is proposed for July 17. All necessary preparations for the opening ceremony are underway. Both stations have been equipped with modern passenger amenities. The Chief Minister and the Governor have also been invited. Our effort is to make this ceremony memorable for the local people and ensure passengers benefit from the enhanced facilities,” said Shreya Singh, DCM, Ranchi Railway Division.
Railway officials believe that these stations, developed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, will give a new identity to the rail infrastructure of the region. Modern amenities will make travel more convenient for passengers, while giving a new momentum to local development and connectivity.
With this inauguration on July 17, the Ranchi Railway Division will present yet another gift of modern railway stations to its passengers.
