Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) celebrated the annual Jagannath Rath Yatra with religious fervour and traditional grandeur on Thursday. The idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra were ceremonially brought out from the Jagannath Temple in Sector 4 after special rituals and placed on the decorated chariot.
The Chhera Panhara ritual, a revered tradition symbolising humility and service, was performed by the BSL Director In-Charge, who ceremonially swept the chariot before the procession commenced.
The Rath Yatra began from the Sector 4 Jagannath Temple and proceeded through Bokaro General Hospital, Gandhi Chowk, City Centre, Patharkatta Chowk and Ram Mandir Chowk before culminating at Ram Mandir. Thousands of devotees joined the procession, pulling the chariot amid devotional chants of “Jai Jagannath”, while floral tributes were offered along the route.
The event was attended by BSL Executive Directors, Bokaro Mahila Samiti Chairperson Shubham Ranjan, vice-chairpersons, committee members, senior officials, employees and a large gathering of devotees.
Bokaro Mahila Samiti, with support from BSL and several social organisations, arranged drinking water, sherbet, fruits and other essential amenities for devotees throughout the procession.
The annual Rath Yatra is one of BSL’s prominent cultural and religious events, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to preserving traditions while fostering community participation and social harmony in Bokaro Steel City.
