JMMSY gives wings to women entrepreneurs in Koderma

The Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maiyan Samman Yojana (JMMSY) is emerging as a catalyst for women’s economic empowerment in Koderma district, with beneficiaries using the financial assistance to launch businesses, expand existing enterprises, and strengthen their families’ financial stability.

The scheme, which provides regular financial support to eligible women, has enabled many beneficiaries to venture into self-employment and achieve financial independence. Officials say the initiative is not only offering economic assistance but also instilling confidence and encouraging women to become active contributors to household incomes.

In Chandwara block, Reena Devi transformed her savings from the scheme into capital for a garment shop after struggling with unemployment. The business has steadily expanded, allowing her to contribute significantly to her family’s finances while planning further growth.

Another beneficiary from Chandwara, Gayatri Devi, invested the assistance in opening a grocery store. The shop now generates a regular income, helping her family meet daily expenses and providing her with a stable source of livelihood.

In Jayanagar, Pooja Devi started a ration shop with support from the scheme after having no permanent source of income. She now runs the business independently and supports her household with dignity. Seema Devi, who already operated a small shop selling पूजा items and vegetables, used the funds to expand her business, resulting in a noticeable increase in income.

The scheme has also encouraged women to explore local entrepreneurship. Nandani Kumari of Markacho invested in soap manufacturing, producing quality soaps locally while creating employment opportunities in the area. Tuni Kumari, also from Markacho, pooled the financial assistance as seed capital to establish a ration shop and now plans to further expand her enterprise.

The success stories from across Koderma underscore the growing impact of the Mukhyamantri Maiyan Samman Yojana in promoting women’s financial independence. Beneficiaries say the initiative has become more than a welfare scheme, serving as a platform for self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and social empowerment while enabling women to play a greater role in the district’s economic development.
