A significant weather update has been issued for Jharkhand. The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for 12 districts of the State, including Ranchi, for the next five days.
Due to a low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal, dense cloud cover is expected in many areas, accompanied by intermittent spells of good rainfall. Continuous rain and cool winds will provide relief from humidity and heat, although heavy downpours could lead to waterlogging in some regions.
Districts likely to experience heavy rainfall at isolated places over the next five days include Ranchi, Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, Simdega, and West Singhbhum.
However, the Meteorological Department informed that the monsoon remains weaker than normal in the State. The impact of the low-pressure system over Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal is clearly visible on the state’s weather; consequently, good rainfall is expected in the Palamu division and several districts in the southern part of the State.
Significant rainfall was recorded across various parts of the State over the last 24 hours. The highest rainfall, 100 mm, was recorded in Latehar. Other notable rainfall figures include 78.4 mm in Simdega, 64.5 mm in Chandwa, 35.9 mm in Bishrampur, 35.8 mm in East Singhbhum, 32.2 mm in Panchet, and 27.2 mm in Lohardaga.
Meanwhile, rainfall ranging from 15 mm to 25 mm was recorded in several districts, including Ranchi, Gumla, Dumka, and Ramgarh. Persistent rain and strong winds have brought relief from the scorching heat, and a drop in temperature has made the weather pleasant.
The Meteorological Department forecasts that similar weather conditions will prevail in the coming days. However, heavy rainfall could also lead to waterlogging in some areas.
As per the date released by Meteorological Department, Jharkhand has received 210.8 mm of rainfall so far this monsoon season, against a normal of 359.8 mm; this represents a 40 percent deficit.
Meanwhile, Ranchi has recorded 280.9 mm of rainfall, which is 24 percent less than the normal 371 mm. Meteorologist Abhishek Anand stated that cloudy conditions will prevail across most parts of the state for the next five days due to an active low-pressure area over Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha. During this period, light to moderate rainfall is expected in several districts, with the possibility of heavy rain in some locations.
