In a major move to curb illegal quarrying and enforce strict regulatory compliance, the Dumka District Mining Department has initiated a high-tech aerial survey using drones across stone mining zones in the district. The modern surveillance drive is aimed at evaluating lease limits, measuring quarry depths, and conducting technical assessments to identify operators extracting minerals beyond their allocated territorial boundaries.
The high-tech inspection drive comes on the heels of stern instructions issued by the Dumka Deputy Commissioner during a recent Mining Task Force review meeting. The district chief had directed officials to utilize drone technology to keep a vigilant eye on mining activities and ensure zero tolerance for out-of-bounds extraction.
Acting on these orders, a team of officials led by District Mining Inspectors Gaurav Kumar Singh and Manjeet Dubey carried out extensive drone measurements across five major stone quarries located in the high-density Shikaripara stone industrial belt. The technical inspections covered lease sites owned by Sujit Kumar Singh, Agrima Infra Private Limited, Dimbdaha Stone Mines (represented by Vikram Sharma), and Dhananjay Singh.
Mining authorities stated that the exact nature and extent of territorial encroachments will be confirmed once the technical drone data is compiled into a detailed report. Officials warned that leaseholders found violating territorial limits or exceeding permissible depth guidelines will face steep monetary fines and severe administrative action under mining regulations.
