Several significant initiatives aimed at elevating healthcare services and medical education to new heights were launched on Wednesday at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi.
On this occasion, state-of-the-art facilities—including digital mammography, a central laboratory, a BSNL-managed Wi-Fi and CCTV command control room, an oral and maxillofacial surgery operation theatre, the e-Sushrut HMIS Jharkhand system, and an online patient appointment system—were inaugurated. Additionally, appointment letters were distributed to newly recruited faculty members. The event was held at the new academic building of RIMS.
The event’s chief guest, Dr. Irfan Ansari—Minister of Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare, Government of Jharkhand—stated that the state government is committed to establishing RIMS among the country’s leading medical institutions. Congratulating the newly appointed faculty and officials, he remarked that their energy and expertise would lead to significant improvements in the quality of medical education and patient care services.
Ansari also announced that advertisements for the recruitment of 94 Assistant Professors would be issued soon, further strengthening the institute’s academic and clinical capabilities.
Suresh Baitha, MLA from the Kanke constituency and a member of the RIMS Governing Body, noted that RIMS has earned the trust of the state’s people and has become a symbol of Jharkhand’s identity. He stated, “Now that RIMS is established as a proven and successful medical institution, building ‘RIMS-2’—while carrying forward this same excellence—will be a historic step for the state’s healthcare sector.”
Ajay Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, affirmed the state government’s commitment to the continuous expansion of human resources, digital health services, modern medical equipment, and infrastructure at RIMS. He added that the new recruitments, digital health systems, and the proposed RIMS-2 project would play a pivotal role in gaining national recognition for Jharkhand’s healthcare system.
RIMS Director and CEO Prof. (Dr.) DK Sinha welcomed and congratulated all the newly appointed teachers and officials.
He stated that the approval of 250 MBBS seats, the expansion of modern healthcare and digital facilities, the appointment of new faculty, and the upcoming recruitment of 94 Assistant Professors would prove to be milestones in the institute’s development.
