Jamshedpur Sikh preacher honoured in Thailand

Young Sikh preacher and scholar Harvinder Singh Jamshedpuri returned to Jamshedpur on Saturday after completing a two-month Gurmat preaching mission in Bangkok, Thailand, where he was honoured for his efforts to promote Sikh teachings among the expatriate Sikh community.

Harvinder Singh was felicitated with a Siropa (robe of honour) and a certificate of appreciation at the Guru Nanak Center Association Gurdwara Sahib in Bangkok’s Charan Sanitwong area. The honours were presented by Gurdwara Vice-President Ranjit Singh, Treasurer Kulwant Singh, and community leaders Ravinderpal Singh and Bhupinder Singh in recognition of his contribution to spreading Gurmat and Sikh values.

During his stay from May 25 to July 25, Harvinder Singh conducted religious discourses and awareness sessions on Gurmat and the Sikh code of conduct, Rehat Maryada, for members of the local Sangat. His programmes focused on the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and encouraged devotees to incorporate the principles of the Guru Granth Sahib into their daily lives.

Speaking after his return, Harvinder Singh said he was deeply inspired by the devotion of the Sikh community in Thailand towards Sikhi, Gurbani and Gurmat. He described the experience as spiritually enriching and praised the Guru Nanak Center Association, particularly its President Rajpal Singh Narang, for fostering an atmosphere of humility, unity and selfless service.

He said the religious gatherings strengthened the spirit of Sikh unity and seva, adding that the Sikh diaspora in Thailand has set an example of preserving religious traditions while contributing to society.
