The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) on Friday unanimously endorsed the proposal sent by All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge regarding the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, asserting that the ruling alliance would secure victory on both seats.
The meeting was held at the Old Assembly Hall in Ranchi under the chairmanship of JPCC president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh and in the presence of Congress Working Committee (CWC) permanent member and Jharkhand Congress in-charge K. Raju.
Addressing party leaders, K. Raju said all Congress and alliance legislators were united and confident of ensuring the victory of the alliance candidates in the Rajya Sabha polls. He also announced that responsibilities had been assigned to all state Congress office-bearers, including vice-presidents, general secretaries, secretaries and joint secretaries.
Raju said the party’s organisational restructuring exercise, underway for the past one-and-a-half years, was now in its final phase. Committees have been constituted at the Gram Panchayat, block, district and state levels, and responsibilities as well as accountability have been clearly defined for office-bearers. He added that performance reviews would be conducted every three months to assess organisational effectiveness.
Expressing concern over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Raju urged party leaders and workers at all levels to remain vigilant. He alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was attempting to remove names from voter lists as part of a political strategy and asserted that the Congress would not allow any such effort to succeed.
