In a significant push toward boosting youth employment and skill development in the region, the District Administration, in collaboration with the Department of Labour, Employment, Training, and Skill Development, organized a one-day District Job Fair on Monday. The event, held under the aegis of the Sub-Regional Employment Exchange at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) premises, marked the second job fair for the financial year 2026–27.
The recruitment drive drew participation from 16 private sector employers offering a total of 2,450 vacancies across various sectors. Over 515 aspiring job seekers attended the fair to explore suitable career opportunities. By the end of the day, participating companies selected 168 candidates directly for various positions, while 277 candidates were shortlisted for the second round of evaluations.
Briefing the gathering, Assistant Director (Employment) Sandeep Kispotta outlined the array of career guidance services and facilities offered by the employment office. Employer representatives detailed their job profiles, working environments, and service terms to help candidates make informed choices. Trainees from local skill centers and ITIs also attended the event to gain practical exposure to private-sector hiring processes and industry expectations.
Highlighting the role of the employment exchange, officials noted that such fairs serve as a crucial bridge connecting potential employers with local job seekers on a single platform. Unemployed youth were encouraged to keep track of upcoming opportunities, which are regularly listed on the official portal, www.jharniyojan.jharkhand.gov.in, the district portal dumka.nic.in, and in local daily newspapers.
The job fair was conducted in the presence of District Skill Development Officer Priti Kumari, the Principal and training officers of Government ITI Dumka, along with employment exchange staff including Shiv Nandan Prasad, Badri Nath Pandey, Pankaj Kumar Mandal, Suraj Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Arun Kumar Mandal, and Vishal Kumar.
