Thousands of aspirants participated in a “Constitution March” in Ranchi on Wednesday, protesting alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations and demanding action on their long-pending grievances.
Despite heavy rain, the march began from Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium and proceeded to Albert Ekka Chowk, where protesters staged a sit-in. Police personnel were deployed along the route, from the stadium to Firayalal Chowk, to maintain law and order.
Carrying banners, placards and copies of the Constitution, the protesters raised slogans demanding transparency and accountability in the recruitment process. Placards carried messages such as, “Stop playing with the future of JPSC aspirants,” “End irregularities in recruitment,” “Fix accountability in JPSC and JSSC,” and “Reveal the price of JPSC seats.”
Several participants also carried portraits of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda, saying their movement was rooted in constitutional and democratic principles. They asserted that their protest was peaceful and that they would continue to seek justice through constitutional means.
The aspirants warned that if the government failed to respond to their demands, they would begin an indefinite sit-in protest at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium from July 30, likening the venue to Delhi’s Jantar Mantar as a symbol of sustained democratic protest.
The demonstrators have been demanding a fair investigation into alleged examination irregularities, greater transparency in recruitment, and action against those responsible for any wrongdoing.
