Pakur Police on Saturday returned 28 lost and stolen mobile phones to their rightful owners under its ongoing ‘Operation Muskaan’ initiative. The recovery was made using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, enabling police to trace and verify the devices before handing them back.
The recovered phones were traced from multiple police station jurisdictions, including Pakur Town, Pakur Mufassil, Maheshpur, Amrapara, Pakuria, Littipara, Radhipur OP, and Malpahari OP. Owners expressed gratitude to the police after receiving their phones.
According to police, the CEIR portal, developed by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), allows users to report lost or stolen mobile phones using their IMEI numbers, enabling authorities to block, trace and recover the devices.
Among the recovered handsets were premium smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S23, Motorola Edge 50, OnePlus Nord 2T, and several models from Oppo, Vivo, Realme, Redmi, Poco, Infinix, and Samsung.
Police said the operation was carried out with the coordinated efforts of station house officers, the district’s technical branch, and the CCTNS team.
Officials said Operation Muskaan will continue in the district to recover lost and stolen mobile phones and reunite them with their owners. The police also appealed to the public to immediately report missing mobile phones through the CEIR portal or at the nearest police station to improve the chances of recovery.
