The Foundation Day of Divine Providence Mission School at Khairakandar in Pakuria, Pakur district, was celebrated with reverence and enthusiasm on Friday to commemorate the second death anniversary of the school’s founder, late Dr Suhasini Besra, wife of MLA Prof Stephen Marandi.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Prof Stephen Marandi said education was essential for a meaningful and fulfilling life. Remembering Dr Besra, he said she had devoted her life to education, social service and the promotion of human values.
“Education is the most powerful tool to eradicate poverty, backwardness, illiteracy and social darkness,” Marandi said, adding that the school was established to realise this vision. He said the institution’s progress in education, arts, culture and personality development was a matter of pride for the region.
He assured that efforts would continue to provide children from rural areas with quality education comparable to that available in metropolitan cities.
School director Upasana Marandi said the institution aims to provide students with holistic education, including music, dance, theatre, acting, moral values and proficiency in English, enabling them to compete confidently with students from major cities.
Chief guest and SDPO Vijay Kumar praised the school’s efforts to combine education with values and said Dr Besra’s commitment to education would remain an inspiration for society.
The programme was attended by Pakuria police station in-charge Manoj Kumar Mahto, Maheshpur BDO Dr Siddharth Shankar Yadav, Circle Officer Sanjay Sinha, JMM district president Azizul Islam, senior party functionaries, public representatives, school staff, parents and hundreds of students.
