An FIR has been registered at the Nagri police station in Ranchi against a local resident for allegedly posting offensive comments and making death threats against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal on social media.
The accused, identified as Aleem Ansari, a resident of Nagri, allegedly posted an offensive video on social media using derogatory language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal.
According to the complaint, the accused also issued a direct death threat to Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal in the video. Ritesh Raj Mahto, President of the BJP Nagri Mandal has made a written complaint alleging that the video attempts to hurt religious sentiments and disrupt social harmony. It further highlights that the video contains remarks regarding slaughtering and consuming an animal, which could create local communal tension.
Following the written request by BJP leaders demanding strict action, the Nagri police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police have initiated a formal investigation into the matter.
BJP leader Ritesh Raj stated that offensive language was used against the Prime Minister, Home Minister, UP Chief Minister, and the local MLA, prompting the formal police complaint. He expressed expectation that the authorities will take swift and stern legal action against the accused.
“We have lodged an FIR against the accused and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. The complainant stated that the accused attempted to disrupt social harmony by posting the objectionable video, and openly insulted the sacred constitutional posts,” said Nagri police station officer-in-charge Abhishek Rai.
The accused has been booked under sections of the BNS. He will be arrested once the investigation into the matter is completed, the officer added.
