The Dumka district administration has fortified its operational and security grid ahead of the first Somwari of the Shravani Mela, declaring pilgrim safety and convenience its paramount objective as millions prepare to converge on Baba Basukinath Dham.
Setting the tone for meticulous ground execution, Deputy Commissioner Abhijit Sinha and Superintendent of Police Pitambar Singh Kherwar spearheaded a detailed coordination and briefing session for all deputed magistrates, police officers, and department heads at the Mayurakshi Kala Manch. Reviewing every facet of the monumental religious event, authorities issued strict directives ensuring that all deployed personnel remain firmly at their assigned posts without exception.
To manage the massive influx expected for water offerings via ‘Argha,’ comprehensive arrangements have been enforced across drinking water supply, sanitation, and electrical grids. The power department has been tasked with continuous monitoring to preempt short circuits, while functional sprinkler systems will operate continuously along all pilgrimage routes to shield devotees from the heat. Essential pilgrim services, including the online lost-and-found system and dedicated cloakrooms, have been fully operationalized for rapid public assistance.
Addressing the security apparatus, the Superintendent of Police announced the strategic reinforcement of additional police forces across high-density zones over the coming days. Authorities are maintaining continuous surveillance via CCTV command networks and active NDRF deployment, alongside an uncompromising anti-encroachment drive to keep transit paths completely unobstructed. Field officers and police station incharges have been instructed to maintain disciplined vigilance paired with a courteous, sensitive approach toward visitors.
Concluing the administrative review, the Deputy Commissioner personally inspected critical zones including Tara Mandir Chowk, Shivganga Ghat, route lines, the queue complex, and exit points. Emphasizing strict access control—particularly barring entry through exit gates—the leadership reiterated that every measure is in place to guarantee a secure, seamless, and deeply fulfilling pilgrimage for every devotee.
