Over 20 trains affected due to traffic block in CKP Division

Train services on the South Eastern Railway’s Chakradharpur Division will be significantly affected in October as the Railways undertakes a major non-interlocking (NI) work at Bondamunda (BNDM) D Cabin for yard remodelling and commissioning of the fifth railway line between BNDM A Cabin and Rourkela. The infrastructure upgrade is aimed at enhancing line capacity, improving operational efficiency and ensuring smoother train movement in one of the division’s busiest sections.

According to a press communique issued by the Chakradharpur Division, the work schedule includes nine days of pre-NI work from October 4 to 12, followed by a six-hour traffic and signal block on October 13, and post-NI work from October 14 to 19. Owing to the engineering work, more than 20 trains will remain cancelled on different dates, while a few long-distance services will be diverted or rescheduled.

Among the trains cancelled are the Chakradharpur–Rourkela MEMU, Rourkela–Tatanagar MEMU, Hatia–Rourkela Passenger, Ispat Express, Tata–Bilaspur Express, Bilaspur–Tata Express, Hatia–SMVT Bengaluru Express, Howrah–Titlagarh Ispat Express, Tata–Itwari Express, Itwari–Tata Express, Jharsuguda–Sambalpur Intercity Express and several MEMU passenger services operating in the Chakradharpur–Rourkela section. The cancellations are spread across various dates between October 4 and October 19.

The Railways has also announced the rescheduling of the Puri–Hatia–Puri Express, Howrah–CSMT Duronto Express, and Dhanbad–Alappuzha Express on specified dates to facilitate the traffic block. In addition, the New Delhi–Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express and Puri–Yog Nagari Rishikesh Utkal Express will operate on diverted routes during the period of the block.
