The Jharkhand High Court heard a petition filed by shopkeepers from Upper Bazar challenging the cancellation of their trade licenses and the notices issued to seal their shops. Providing relief to the business owners, the High Court bench of Justice Anand Sen directed the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) not to take any coercive action against the petitioners until further orders.
The Court has also sought a response from the Ranchi Municipal Corporation in this matter. The next hearing is scheduled for September 8. Advocate Devesh Ajmani presented the case on behalf of the petitioners.
For context, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation had cancelled the trade licenses of approximately six business owners in Upper Bazar and issued notices ordering them to shut down their businesses and seal their shops. The shopkeepers challenged this action in the High Court. The petition was filed by Deepali Marketing and others. Upon the petitioners’ request for an urgent hearing, the Court took up the matter and granted interim relief.
The Jharkhand High Court has previously provided significant interim relief to traders and shopkeepers in Ranchi’s Upper Bazar area concerning disputes over commercial buildings, unauthorized constructions, and demolition notices issued by the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC).
The Jharkhand High Court heard a petition filed by Lakshya Singh regarding a discrepancy in marks in the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination. In compliance with the court’s directives, the National Testing Agency (NTA) presented the candidate’s original OMR sheet in a sealed envelope before the court. Subsequently, following the petitioner’s request to withdraw the petition, the court dismissed the case.
Lakshya Singh, who appeared for the NEET-UG re-test in Ranchi, filed a petition stating that the scanned OMR sheet and responses uploaded online by the NTA showed a score of 660 marks out of 720 (145 in Physics, 164 in Chemistry, and 351 in Biology). However, when the official final results were declared, his score was drastically reduced to 116 marks.
The bench led by Justice Ananda Sen directed the NTA to produce the original OMR sheet (Test Booklet Serial Number: 265208914, Roll Number: 2603107066) in a sealed cover to verify the massive gap between the online display and the final result.
