Authorities have stepped up preparations for the second Monday of the Rajkiya Shravani Mela 2026, with a comprehensive strategy aimed at ensuring smooth crowd management, traffic regulation, sanitation and public safety as a large influx of devotees is expected in Baba Nagri.
During a high-level review meeting held at the Collectorate on Wednesday, officials finalised measures to facilitate hassle-free darshan and jalabhishek for pilgrims. Strict crowd management will be enforced at the Baba Baidyanath temple, Nehru Park and all major holding points, while the entire pilgrim route will be secured with proper barricading and regulated movement to prevent congestion.
Traffic management has been strengthened across all entry points to the mela area and Deoghar town to minimise the possibility of traffic jams. Police personnel and magistrates will remain deployed round the clock at sensitive and high-footfall locations to maintain law and order.
Departments concerned have been directed to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply, clean toilets and reliable electricity along the mela route, holding points and temple premises. Sanitation teams will carry out continuous garbage collection throughout the mela area to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
Special arrangements are also being made to streamline jalabhishek through the external arghya at the Baba temple, while additional security personnel will be stationed at the Parvati temple to regulate crowds.
With rain and lightning remaining a concern during the monsoon, disaster management measures will be strengthened, particularly around Shivganga, the temple complex and other open areas. Officials were instructed to remain on high alert to ensure the safety, security and convenience of devotees throughout the peak pilgrimage period.
