Jharkhand Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Minister Dr Irfan Ansari on Thursday visited Curesta Hospital in Ranchi to enquire about the health of senior legislator and Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy, who was admitted after his health reportedly deteriorated suddenly.
According to an official statement, Dr Ansari learnt about Roy’s hospitalisation after noticing his absence during the ongoing Assembly session. He immediately visited the hospital, met the veteran MLA and interacted with the attending doctors, asking them to ensure the best possible medical care.
Speaking after the visit, Dr Ansari described Roy as more than just a senior colleague.
“Saryu Roy is not only a senior legislator for me but also a mentor and a fatherly figure. He has always guided, encouraged and blessed me. His support and appreciation for the reforms being undertaken in the health sector have always motivated me,” the minister said.
Dr Ansari said every interaction with Roy had been a learning experience and credited him with inspiring many young public representatives through his commitment to public service.
He described Roy as one of Jharkhand’s most experienced, principled and fearless political leaders, known for raising public issues in the Assembly with facts and persistence.
“He never stops asking questions until he receives a satisfactory answer. That reflects his commitment to public accountability, transparency and democratic values,” the minister said.
Expressing concern over Roy’s health, Dr Ansari wished him a speedy recovery and said he hoped the veteran legislator would soon return to the Assembly.
