Authorities have stepped up security, crowd management and civic arrangements at Basukinath ahead of the expected rush of kanwarias and devotees for the second Monday of the Shravani Mela 2026.
A detailed security and preparedness review was held at Mayurakshi Kala Manch, with senior officials assessing arrangements across the mela area. Personnel deployed for the pilgrimage have been directed to remain at their assigned locations, maintain regular communication with the control room and respond promptly to changing crowd conditions.
Security teams have been instructed to restrict the entry of large bags and unnecessary luggage and ensure smooth movement of devotees along designated route lines. Traffic management for four-wheelers and continuous surveillance through the CCTV network have also been prioritised to prevent congestion and ensure safety.
Special measures have been put in place around Shivganga, where NDRF personnel and disaster management volunteers will monitor devotees and prevent them from entering restricted areas. Field personnel have also been directed to remain prepared for fire-related emergencies and trained in the use of fire extinguishers.
Police officials have been asked to remain particularly vigilant during fluctuations in crowd density and work to minimise waiting time for devotees.
Sanitation has also been identified as a key priority, with teams instructed to maintain cleanliness and ensure regular sanitation of public toilets and other facilities across the mela premises.
Following the briefing, senior officials inspected route lines, entry gates and exit points to assess arrangements on the ground.
The administration said coordinated efforts by security, traffic, disaster management and civic teams are being maintained to ensure a safe and orderly pilgrimage during the festival rush.
