Chief Minister Hemant Soren today once again assured the protesting youth that the state government is deeply serious about their rights and future. He stated that it is government’s responsibility to deliver justice to the youth protesting against irregularities in recruitment exams. Strict action will be taken against those involved, and the perpetrators have already been identified.
The Chief Minister addressing gathering on the occasion of Jharkhand Adivasi Mahotsav 2026 noted that the protesting students found the courage to demand their rights and agitate precisely because of the government’s actions, stating, “Because we caught the theft.” He assured that the youth will get justice and those guilty of irregularities will receive the harshest punishment, emphasizing that no one will be spared. Referring to the exam controversy, he reiterated that the government has taken the matter seriously, firmly stating, “We have caught the theft.” Emotionally, the CM remarked that he was born in this soil and will be buried in it—a statement reflecting his deep connection with the state and its youth.
He advised the youth that they do not need the shadow or backing of any political party to fight for their rights. The youth themselves are their own strength, and raising their voice for their rights is their prerogative.
The Chief Minister observed that political parties across the nation have their eyes on the youth, attempting to confuse them with a mix of lies and truths to turn them against the government. He told the protesting students that they do not need anyone’s patronage; they can speak up for their rights independently. This statement comes at a time when students in Jharkhand are continuously protesting over competitive exam controversies and alleged irregularities, demanding transparency, an investigation, and action against the guilty.
He pointed out how attempts were made to intimidate and threaten the youth, and how sections of the media also tried to scare and defame the students. When that failed, there were attempts to attack and injure them with batons, bullets, and pellet guns, and eventually, they were branded as traitors. Referencing the Constitution given by Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, he stated that it grants equal rights to every individual. However, he lamented that despite decades of independence, as the nation approaches its 100th year of freedom, significant inequality persists in society, with the poor getting poorer and the rich getting richer.
The core message of his address remained the assurance of strict action against the guilty. The Chief Minister clearly stated that students will receive justice and the culprits will face the severest punishment.
The CM cautioned that a certain force is actively trying to undermine democracy today. However, he asserted that Jharkhand is a land of heroes; even when the rest of the nation was not yet dreaming of freedom, struggle was already underway here. Though 26 years have passed since its formation, the state is still trying to stand on its own feet after historically being treated like a grazing ground.
He emphasized that every problem will be resolved through dialogue, not through batons or bullets. Batons and bullets are meant for enemies at the borders, not for fellow countrymen.
