Due to the presence of a low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal, a forecast for thunderstorm, lightning and gusty as isolated places across Jharkhand has been made along with predictions for heavy showers for the later part of the week.
According to the bulletin released by The Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, on August 10 heavy rainfall is predicted for the southwestern and northwestern as well as adjoining central parts of Jharkhand while on August 13 isolated heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the southern parts of the State.
The MET Centre, Ranchi also informed that from August 10 to August 13, there is a possibility of thunder, lightning and strong winds at a speed of approximately 40 to 50 km per hour at some places in the State.
The maximum temperature is likely to increase by 2 to 3 degree Celsius over the State during the next two days, thereafter, no significant change in maximum temperature is likely during the next three days. The sky will mostly remain cloudy and there is also a strong possibility of light to moderate rain or thundershowers at many places in the State.
From June 1 to August 9, the State has received a total of 471.6 mm of rainfall as against the normal amount of 599.4 mm and is currently facing a deficit of 21 percent. The highest shortfall has been recorded in Garhwa at 55 percent followed by Pakur at 52 percent, Chatra at 51 percent, Deoghar at 46 percent and Koderma at 43 percent.
West Singhbhum has witnessed a total of 715 mm of rain as against the normal amount of 592.5 mm and has a surplus of 21 percent. Ranchi has recorded 570.5 mm of realised rainfall while the normal average if of 619.3 mm and falls in the normal category. The other districts to receive normal rainfall include Dhanbad, Dumka, East Singhbhum, Khunti, Sabibganj, Saraikela, -Kharsawan and Simdega.
From August 10 to August 12, the maximum temperature in the State capital and its surrounding areas will be around 30 to 31 degree Celsius and it may come down to 29 degree Celsius on August 13 while the minimum temperature will be around 23 to 24 degree Celsius.
