The sub-capital of Jharkhand, Dumka, is all decked up to celebrate Independence Day with full national pride and ceremonial splendour. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar will unfurl the Tricolour at the official main function scheduled at the Police Line Ground at 9:00 AM on August 15, inspect the contingent formations, and receive the guard of honour. Giving final touches to the state-level event, a meticulous full-dress rehearsal was held at the venue on Thursday, evaluating every security and parade detail.
The marching contingent will feature 14 dedicated platoons representing the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), Special Indian Reserve Battalion (SIRB), District Executive Force, and Home Guard contingents. IPS officer Vedant Shankar will lead the grand parade as the Parade Commander, supported by Dumka SDPO Dilip Khalkho as the Second-in-Command.
Taking stock of the operational readiness, Dumka Deputy Commissioner Abhijit Sinha, accompanied by Superintendent of Police Pitambar Singh Kherwar, inspected the marching drills, venue amenities, and safety perimeters. DC Sinha mandated seamlessly managed public utility services—ranging from pure drinking water booths and round-the-clock medical response teams to dedicated traffic routes and weather-sheltered seating arenas for citizens gathering to witness the proceedings.
Underscoring the significance of the occasion, DC Sinha stated that Independence Day reflects the nation’s collective unity and heritage, urging officials to uphold the highest administrative standards during the event. The Governor will arrive in Dumka on the eve of August 14 ahead of the ceremonies. Meanwhile, SP Pitambar Singh Kherwar assured that elaborate security arrangements and strict vigilance mechanisms have been enforced across the district to guarantee smooth and peaceful celebrations.
