Three senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Jharkhand on Monday met Governor Santosh Gangwar at Lok Bhavan and discussed the prevailing political situation in the state, including the ongoing student agitation in Ranchi.
The delegation comprised BJP state president Aditya Sahu, Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi and state organisational general secretary Karmveer Singh. During the meeting, the leaders raised several pressing issues concerning the state, with the student movement emerging as a key point of discussion.
The BJP leaders told the Governor that students from across Jharkhand had been protesting in Ranchi for the past 24 days, demanding justice over issues related to recruitment examinations. They alleged that despite the prolonged agitation, the state government had failed to address the students’ grievances.
The BJP delegation also highlighted the health condition of some protesting students who, according to the party, have been admitted to hospitals after their health deteriorated during hunger strikes. The leaders alleged that the government was ignoring the students’ demands and was misleading them in the name of holding talks.
The BJP leaders urged the Governor to intervene in the matter and take concrete steps to ensure that the students’ legitimate demands are considered at the earliest. They said an effective solution should be worked out to bring an end to the prolonged agitation and address the concerns of the protesting students.
The meeting comes amid heightened political activity in Jharkhand over the student protests, which have emerged as a major issue in the state.
Governor Santosh Gangwar, meanwhile, assured the BJP delegation that he was closely monitoring the developments and was keeping a watch on the overall situation.
