KUMAR PRABHAT
DUMKA
Shailendra Kumar Lal officially took charge as the in-charge Divisional Commissioner of Santhal Pargana on Monday, ending a nearly month-long vacancy at the division’s top administrative post. Following the formal handover, Dumka Deputy Commissioner Abhijit Sinha paid a courtesy visit to the new commissioner, extending his warm wishes for a successful tenure.
Addressing officers and staff shortly after assuming office, Lal underscored that accelerating regional development and ensuring responsive public grievance redressal would form the core of his administration. He stated that citizen-centric welfare initiatives must be expedited through streamlined inter-departmental coordination, urging administrative machinery to function with enhanced efficiency and accountability so that government schemes reach beneficiaries seamlessly.
The position had fallen vacant following the superannuation of former Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Kumar on July 31, leading the Jharkhand government to appoint Lal until further orders. Lal brings considerable administrative and grassroots experience to the role, having previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society in Ranchi, as well as the Block Development Officer of Dumka Sadar between 2004 and 2006. Senior officials and administrative personnel of the commissioner’s secretariat were present on the occasion.
