DC directs officials to speed up land acquisition, revenue collection

Camps to be organised for disbursement of compensation to landowners

Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan on Monday directed officials to accelerate revenue collection and expedite pending land acquisition for road projects during a review meeting held at the collectorate auditorium.

The meeting reviewed revenue collection, land acquisition, encroachment on government land, pending Tata lease matters and certificate cases. The Deputy Commissioner took a department-wise assessment of revenue collection against targets fixed for the 2026-27 financial year and directed officials to make effective use of available resources and identify additional avenues for generating revenue.

Against the annual targets, revenue collection stood at 19.52% in the Urban Zone, 25.12% in the Jamshedpur Zone and 20.31% in the Singhbhum Zone under the three State Tax zones. The Mining Department achieved 25% of its target, while the Excise Department recorded 32% and the District Sub-Registrar 25%.

The three Electricity Department divisions — Jamshedpur, Mango and Ghatshila — recorded around 50% collection against their annual targets, while the Transport Department achieved 31%. Among urban local bodies, Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) recorded 25% collection, while Jugsalai, Chakulia and Mango municipal bodies crossed the 40% mark during the current financial year.

Ranjan directed all concerned officers to step up collection efforts and accelerate mobilisation of revenue from internal resources.

During the review of land acquisition, the Deputy Commissioner directed the District Land Acquisition Officer to complete the remaining acquisition work for various road projects on priority. He also instructed officials to organise compensation distribution camps so that pending payments could be disbursed to landowners without further delay.

The meeting also reviewed progress on mutation, land demarcation, rectification of land records and online collection of land revenue. Circle Officers were directed to ensure that applications related to land matters are disposed of within the prescribed time limit.

Taking stock of certificate cases involving revenue recovery, the Deputy Commissioner ordered officials to speed up disposal of pending cases, hold regular hearings and take effective steps for recovery of outstanding dues.

The meeting was attended by Dhalbhum SDM Arnav Mishra, Additional Deputy Commissioner Anurag Tiwari, DCLR Dhalbhum, District Land Acquisition Officer, District Transport Officer, District Mining Officer, Circle Officers and other officials concerned.
