Dr Vidya KL has been newly appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Ranchi.
Dr Vidya who specialises in Geriatric Psychiatry and also holds a DM in the field, assumed her post in the Institute on Monday, August 17.
Welcoming her appointment, Head of the Department of Psychiatry Professor Dr Ajay Bakhla said the department was pleased to have Dr Vidya KL join the faculty. The HOD also stated that RIMS is planning to start a dedicated outpatient department (OPD) for Geriatric Psychiatry shortly.
“We are delighted that Dr Vidya KL has joined the Department of Psychiatry as an Assistant Professor. She hold a DM in Geriatric Psychiatry and the Department is planning to start a special OPD for Geriatric Psychiatry very soonn under her guidance. Dr Vidya KL’s contributions will help further strengthen specialised services for mental health issues among the elderly at RIMS,” said Head of the Department of Psychiatry Professor Dr Ajay Bakhla.
The proposed dedicated OPD will be an important step towards providing specialised mental health counseling and treatment to senior citizens.
