Absenteeism found during surprise inspection in Garhwa

June 11, 2026

PNS

Garhwa

District authorities on Wednesday carried out surprise inspections of the Community Health Centres (CHCs) at Chiniya and Ranka, along with the Block-cum-Circle Office at Chiniya, to review administrative functioning and healthcare services.

During the inspection of the Chiniya Block-cum-Circle Office, several employees, including Block Development Officer (BDO) Subodh Kumar, were found absent without prior intimation. The administration ordered withholding of one day’s salary of the absent personnel until further orders and issued a show-cause notice to the BDO. Further action will be taken based on the explanation submitted.

At the Chiniya CHC, outpatient services and medicine distribution were functioning normally, but nursing and pathology staff were absent. Officials informed the inspection team that the employees had travelled to Ranka to attend a monthly health review meeting.

A subsequent visit to the Ranka CHC confirmed that health workers from Chiniya were participating in the joint review meeting along with personnel from Ranka and Ramkanda blocks. Doctors and staff at the Ranka facility were found performing their duties as scheduled.

During the meeting, it was decided that future monthly health review meetings would be held on a rotational basis across Ranka, Chiniya and Ramkanda blocks instead of being conducted only at Ranka. Officials said the move would help identify local healthcare challenges more effectively while ensuring that routine hospital services remain unaffected.

The administration also directed healthcare workers to maintain punctuality and ensure uninterrupted availability of free medicines, diagnostic services and quality treatment for patients, reiterating its commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.
