The ongoing public hearings under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 are being conducted across the district with a focus on transparency, adherence to Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines and timely resolution of voter-related claims and objections.
District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Abhijeet Sinha inspected the public hearings at various locations on Saturday and reviewed the functioning of Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and Additional Assistant Electoral Registration Officers.
During the inspection, officials interacted with citizens who had approached the hearings with claims and objections concerning the electoral rolls. The applicants were advised to submit the prescribed supporting documents required under ECI guidelines so that their cases could be properly verified and processed in accordance with the rules.
The registration officials were directed to accept documents only in accordance with the norms laid down by the ECI. They were also instructed to scrutinise all claims and objections carefully and dispose of them strictly within the prescribed legal and procedural framework.
Officials were further asked to ensure that citizens appearing at the hearings receive clear information about the required procedures and documents. They were directed to extend necessary assistance to applicants and facilitate the resolution of genuine electoral issues without compromising the established rules.
The administration emphasised that all activities related to the SIR exercise must be carried out impartially and transparently, with strict compliance with the ECI’s instructions.
