In Harmony: The Art Village Foundation distributed school bags among students at Indigenous Public School in Jamtoli, Bero, on August 22, 2026, and at Maharishi Valmiki Public School in Saheda, Angara, Ormanjhi, on August 24.
The initiative was undertaken as part of the foundation’s efforts to support children’s education and well-being in rural areas of Jharkhand.
The foundation is led by Aseem Sinha, a renowned Indian film editor and filmmaker, who is currently visiting villages across his home state of Jharkhand. During his visits, Sinha has been focusing on issues concerning children and their education, with the aim of undertaking sustained initiatives for their welfare through the foundation.
A key part of Sinha’s vision is to establish an Art Village where artists from India and abroad—including painters, filmmakers, musicians, dancers, theatre practitioners, writers, artisans and handicraft makers—can come together and work closely with local communities.
The proposed Art Village is also envisioned as a space for artist residencies, inspired by similar initiatives in other parts of the world. Artists would be able to stay there, exchange ideas and collaborate on art, music, culture and other creative pursuits.
The initiative also aims to provide visiting artists with an opportunity to engage with and learn about the indigenous art, traditions and cultural heritage of Jharkhand while fostering interaction with local communities.
Through its education and cultural initiatives, the foundation seeks to create a platform that combines community development, children’s welfare and the promotion of art and indigenous culture in the state.
