Students of the Government Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital in Godda have received a major relief, with the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) allowing the institution to continue its Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) programme with 63 seats for the 2026-27 academic session.
In its order issued on August 28, the NCH referred to the college’s sanctioned intake of 63 BHMS seats. The Medical Assessment and Rating Board for Homoeopathy (MARBH) had assessed the institution’s teaching staff, infrastructure and other prescribed requirements. The state government also submitted details of steps being taken to address deficiencies identified during the assessment.
Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari took up the matter with the NCH and held several meetings with officials in Delhi. He said the education of students from Jharkhand would not be allowed to suffer under any circumstances and assured that deficiencies at the college would be addressed in accordance with national standards.
The state government has informed the commission that steps are being taken to strengthen teaching and infrastructure facilities at the institution. The process for appointment to 53 teaching posts has already been initiated, while details regarding the joining of faculty members in various departments were also submitted to the commission.
The Health Minister said the government was committed to improving the college’s academic and infrastructure facilities and bringing it in line with prescribed standards. He said the objective was not merely to secure continuation of the course but to develop the Godda institution into a strong and quality centre for medical education.
