Admin steps in to assist disabled PVTG woman in Pakur village

Acting swiftly on a social media post highlighting the difficulties faced by a disabled tribal woman in a remote village, the district administration on Wednesday initiated measures to ensure she receives all eligible government benefits without delay.

Following directions from the Deputy Commissioner, a team led by the Littipara Block Development Officer visited Chinpahara, a remote hilltop village in Littipara block, to assess the condition of Kamli Paharin, a physically and mentally challenged woman from the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) Paharia community.

During a field inquiry conducted in the presence of the village head and panchayat secretary, officials found that Kamli, daughter of Rama Paharia, had been unable to secure a disability certificate due to Aadhaar-related procedural hurdles. Her mobile number had not been updated in the Aadhaar database, preventing completion of formalities during a disability assessment camp.

Officials also noted that her mental health condition posed challenges in biometric authentication, making fingerprint verification difficult. To address the issue, the administration has initiated alternative arrangements to update her Aadhaar details and facilitate the issuance of a disability certificate at the earliest.

The inquiry revealed that Kamli lives with her parents, who have already been covered under several welfare schemes. Her mother receives benefits under the Primitive Tribal Pension Scheme, while the family has been provided housing under the Janman Awas Yojana and receives regular food grain supplies through the Dakia scheme.

As immediate relief, the Child Development Project Office provided Kamli with a wheelchair. District authorities have directed concerned departments to expedite all pending formalities, a move welcomed by local residents as a positive step towards supporting vulnerable tribal families in remote areas.
