Schools’ performance reviewed in Deoghar, urgent reforms sought

June 12, 2026

Deoghar

A high-level review meeting of the Education Department was held at the Collectorate Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania to assess the condition of school education, student welfare schemes, infrastructure, and administrative functioning in the district.

Officials conducted a detailed point-wise review of appointments under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, distribution of uniforms and free textbooks, and implementation of the Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme. Instructions were issued to ensure smooth functioning of CMSOE, Adarsh Vidyalayas, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, Jharkhand Balika Awasiya Vidyalayas, and Model Schools.

The meeting highlighted concerns over basic infrastructure in schools, including drinking water, toilets, and building conditions, with directions given for their improvement.

Particular attention was paid to the poor performance in Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations. The administration expressed dissatisfaction over the quality of education and stressed that reforms must produce visible improvements in students’ learning outcomes and examination results. Officials were directed to conduct regular tests and adopt customised learning methods suited to students’ needs.

To improve literacy and educational access, block-level teams were asked to identify school dropout children on priority and facilitate their re-enrolment.

The meeting also reviewed departmental finances, pending charge sheets against teachers, establishment matters, disciplinary proceedings, and suspension cases. It was made clear that negligence in duty would invite strict action as per rules.

Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, the District Education Officer, District Superintendent of Education, Block Education Officers, and other department officials attended the meeting.
