Land registration work stalled in Pakur due to absence of Registrar

June 12, 2026

PNS

Pakur

Land registration work in Pakur district has come to a standstill for nearly a week due to the absence of a Registrar, causing inconvenience to the public and revenue losses to the state government.

Officials said that following the promotion and transfer of former in-charge Registration Officer Ajay Singh Baraik to Ranchi, no new officer has been posted to take charge. As a result, all registration-related work, including land and marriage registrations, has been affected.

Although Pakur typically witnesses a limited number of land registrations, officials noted that an average of over 10 registrations were carried out daily, generating significant revenue for the government. With the work halted, both revenue collection and public services have been adversely impacted.

Residents from Pakur town as well as nearby blocks such as Maheshpur, Pakuria, Littipara, Amrapara, and Hiranpur have been visiting the registration office daily, only to return disappointed due to the absence of an officer.

The disruption has also affected the livelihoods of deed writers, typists, and photocopy shop owners who depend on registration-related work for their income.

Administrative officials said that the matter has been reported to higher authorities and a new officer is expected to be deputed soon to resume services.
