DC Bokaro reviews SIR Progress, Says No Voter Is Fake; Verification Drive Underway

BOKARO

Bokaro Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer (DEO) Ajay Nath Jha on Wednesday clarified that there are no “fake voters” in the district and that the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise is focused solely on voter verification and mapping to ensure a more accurate and updated electoral roll.

Addressing print and electronic media representatives at the Collectorate, the DEO said the campaign is aimed at ensuring that every eligible citizen remains enrolled while enhancing the credibility of the voter list through systematic verification. He emphasized that inclusion of only eligible Indian citizens in the electoral roll is a constitutional responsibility.

To facilitate the process, Voter Assistance Centres will be established in all 249 panchayats, equipped with colour printing facilities for required documents and photographs. BLOs will remain available at polling stations on weekends to assist voters.

The DEO informed that 72.44 percent voter mapping has been completed in the district, covering 11.11 lakh of the total 15.34 lakh voters. More than 2.07 lakh anomaly cases have been identified and will be examined and resolved as per prescribed procedures.

He further said that a comprehensive voter awareness campaign will be launched across the district, with awareness vehicles reaching all blocks. Orientation and training programmes for media personnel are also in the pipeline to ensure wider dissemination of accurate information regarding the SIR process.

The final electoral roll under SIR-2026 is scheduled to be published on October 7, 2026.
