The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Friday organised a district-level one-day workshop and training camp on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls at Rabindra Bhavan in Pakur.
The programme was chaired by district president Azizul Islam and attended by senior party leaders, including central general secretary and spokesperson Vinod Kumar Pandey, central secretary Pankaj Mishra, Rajmahal MP Vijay Hansda, and Littipara MLA Hemlal Murmu.
Addressing booth-level workers and BLO agents (BLA-2), Pandey emphasised the critical role of party workers in safeguarding democracy and the Constitution. He raised concerns over the SIR process, alleging that it was being used to remove eligible voters from the electoral rolls. He claimed that over 1.78 lakh voters in Pakur have been listed as “unmapped” and stressed the need for immediate efforts to ensure their inclusion in the voter list.
“The party will democratically oppose any attempt to deprive eligible citizens of their voting rights,” he said, alleging a larger conspiracy involving the Election Commission and the Central government.
Hansda highlighted the importance of booth-level functionaries, calling them the backbone of the organisation. He urged workers to actively engage with voters at the grassroots level and assist them in getting their names included in the electoral rolls.
Murmu elaborated on the SIR process and instructed party workers to assist voters in the mapping exercise at every booth, ensuring the success of the campaign through active participation.
A large number of district and block-level leaders, representatives of various party wings, and workers attended the workshop. JMM leaders reiterated their commitment to strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level and actively participating in the voter list revision process ahead of upcoming elections.
