In a major crackdown to strengthen law and order, Additional Director General of Police (ADG), South Chotanagpur Zone, Ranchi, Manoj Kaushik has ordered a comprehensive physical verification of all pubs and bars operating in the urban areas of East Singhbhum district.
As per an official order issued from the Camp Office of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Jamshedpur, all police stations have been directed to inspect every pub and bar within their jurisdiction within 24 hours and submit detailed compliance reports.
Police have been asked to verify whether these establishments are operating strictly in accordance with the conditions of their licences. The ADG directed that immediate legal action be taken against any pub or bar found violating licence conditions or other legal provisions. Reports on such establishments will be forwarded to the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner for further action, including possible licence cancellation. Copies of the order have also been sent to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Singhbhum (Kolhan) Region, and the Deputy Commissioner for coordinated action.
The directive comes in the wake of the murder of Himanshu Singh outside DD Bar in Bistupur, after which bars and pubs across Jamshedpur came under the police scanner.
The order followed a law and order review meeting at the office of the Superintendent of Police in Jamshedpur, attended by senior police officers, Station House Officers of East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts, and the newly appointed Superintendents of Police of both districts.
Reviewing the Himanshu Singh murder investigation, Kaushik said multiple police teams were conducting raids to arrest the absconding accused. He also directed investigators to examine the accused’s financial background, including assets, bank transactions and sources of income, to uncover all possible links related to the crime.
The ADG further instructed officials to strengthen the emergency response system by ensuring that information on any criminal incident is immediately monitored through the police control room for swift coordination and action.
