The Pakur district administration has issued a final eviction notice to commercial establishments allegedly encroaching on government land surrounding a pond in Mouza Pakur (Plot No. 1345), directing all occupants to vacate the premises by July 27, 2026.
According to the notice issued by the Circle Office, failure to remove the encroachments within the stipulated deadline will lead to a demolition drive on July 28, to be conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and police personnel. Officials said restoration of the pond will commence immediately after the encroachments are cleared.
The notice has been served to eight commercial establishments, including Monte Carlo, Baba Loknath Enterprises, Laxmi Furniture, Royal Traders, Aastha, Ajmera, and other businesses located along the pond’s boundary.
Officials said the action is being taken in compliance with judicial directions aimed at protecting and restoring water bodies. The administration had earlier asked the occupants to remove the alleged encroachments voluntarily, but with the latest notice, a final deadline for compliance has been fixed.
The proposed eviction has triggered concern among affected traders. Several shopkeepers said they have been operating their businesses at the site for many years, while some claimed they are tenants rather than owners of the properties. They argued that the demolition, without any rehabilitation or relocation plan, would threaten their livelihoods and the financial security of their families.
The administration, however, has maintained that the drive is essential to implement court directives and reclaim the pond from encroachment. With the deadline nearing, all eyes are now on the scheduled demolition drive on July 28, which is expected to test the balance between environmental conservation and the livelihood concerns of local traders.
