The AJSU Party on Monday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged irregularities in the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination, claiming that the recent CID raid at the commission’s headquarters was an attempt to cover up the controversy rather than ensure a fair investigation.
In a statement, AJSU central media in-charge Parvez Khan alleged that the Hemant Soren-led government was under pressure following protests by AJSU and JPSC aspirants and had initiated the CID action merely as a “show of investigation.” He argued that if the government was genuinely concerned about the interests of job aspirants, it should recommend an independent CBI inquiry.
Khan claimed that the state government had earlier refrained from seeking a CBI investigation into the alleged liquor scam and instead relied on state agencies, raising questions over the impartiality of such probes. He alleged that a similar approach was now being adopted in the JPSC case to shield those responsible for alleged irregularities.
The AJSU leader also sought clarification from the government on the selection of a large number of candidates from outside Jharkhand in the 14th JPSC recruitment process. He said the concerns raised by aspirants regarding transparency, evaluation and the overall selection process could only be addressed through an independent and credible investigation.
According to Khan, widespread allegations of irregularities and corruption had eroded the confidence of candidates in the recruitment process. He urged the state government to hand over the matter to the CBI, suspend necessary aspects of the selection process until the inquiry is completed, and take strict action against anyone found guilty to restore public confidence and ensure justice for aspirants.
