AJSU party to launch ‘Janakrosh March’ on 41st foundation day

The AJSU party will hold a “Janakrosh March” (Public Outrage March) in Dhanbad on Monday to mark its 41st foundation day, with party leaders describing the event as the beginning of a statewide campaign against alleged corruption and mafia influence in Jharkhand.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Ranchi, AJSU central vice-president Praveen Prabhakar and leader Hasan Ansari, in the presence of central media coordinator Parwaz Khan, said the march would be attended by party chief Sudesh Mahto, MP Chandra Prakash Choudhary, MLA Nirmal Mahto, and thousands of workers from Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal.

Prabhakar said the formation of Jharkhand was the outcome of decades of struggle and sacrifices by activists, adding that AJSU played a significant role in strengthening the statehood movement after its formation in 1986. He claimed that the party’s protests and economic blockade in 1989 compelled the central government to initiate dialogue on the Jharkhand issue and eventually led to the creation of a committee to study the demand for a separate state.

Hasan Ansari alleged that the current Hemant Soren-led government has failed on multiple fronts and accused it of fostering corruption and protecting illegal mining interests. He also claimed that AJSU leaders protesting illegal mining activities in the coal belt had faced attacks and false criminal cases.

According to the party, the Janakrosh March aims to mobilise public opinion against the state government and highlight concerns related to governance, employment and law enforcement. AJSU leaders said they expect participation from students, youth, women and members of tribal, Dalit, backward and minority communities, along with supporters from neighbouring states.
