A low-pressure area is forming once again over the Bay of Bengal. Consequently, rainfall is expected in several parts of Jharkhand starting August 13. According to the Meteorological Centre, the entire state is likely to remain cloudy on August 12, with the possibility of rain in some areas.
Heavy rainfall is likely in Simdega, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan on August 13. Other districts will remain cloudy, with chances of light rain in some places.
A warning has been issued for heavy rain accompanied by lightning on August 14 in nine districts, including Ranchi—specifically Khunti, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Simdega, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan. Other districts may remain cloudy with isolated light rain.
Rain is also expected in several districts, including Ranchi, on August 15. On Monday, the highest rainfall was recorded in Hazaribagh at 17 mm. Ranchi received 3 mm, Jamshedpur 8 mm, Bokaro 5 mm, Chaibasa 3 mm, and Latehar 2 mm of rainfall.
The normal rainfall for the state from June 1 to August 10 is 607.4 mm, whereas 477 mm has been recorded so far. Ranchi has recorded 9 percent less rainfall during this period; the normal rainfall is 627.8 mm, while 573 mm has been received to date. West Singhbhum is the only district to have received 20 percent more rainfall than normal; the normal rainfall there is 600.7 mm, while 719.5 mm has been recorded so far.
