Bokaro observed the first death anniversary of Padma Bhushan awardee late Shibu Soren by dedicating Guruji Smriti Vatika to the public and residents of Baidyanath Jan Seva Old Age Home at Solagidih under the Chas Municipal Corporation. The green space has been developed as a community recreation area to promote health, relaxation and social interaction.
Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha, Superintendent of Police Nathu Singh Meena, Mayor Bholu Paswan and other dignitaries unveiled a life-size statue of the late leader and paid floral tributes in his memory.
The DC also visited the old age home, interacted with its elderly residents and enquired about their well-being. He encouraged them to regularly use Guruji Smriti Vatika, stating that the park would provide a peaceful environment for recreation and community bonding. He said that adopting Guruji’s ideals of public service and dedication to society would be the most meaningful tribute to his life and legacy.
The programme was attended by Deputy Development Commissioner Shatabdi Majumdar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Pooja Kumari, Additional Collector Sunil Chandra, Trainee IAS Dr Arvind Radhakrishnan, Additional Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar, other district and municipal officials, public representatives and local residents.
