Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) has scripted a golden first quarter in FY 2026-27, delivering its strongest-ever Q1 performance with record achievements in financial results, production, operational efficiency and techno-economic parameters while emerging as SAIL’s best-performing integrated steel plant on EBITDA.
Driven by higher operational efficiency and cost optimisation, BSL’s operational revenue rose 9.37% to ₹5,880 crore, while EBITDA nearly doubled to ₹1,154 crore from ₹588 crore. The plant also recorded SAIL’s highest EBITDA margin of 19.62%, with Profit Before Tax surging to ₹715.57 crore from ₹97.82 crore.
BSL achieved its best-ever first-quarter production since inception in key areas including hot metal, crude steel, gross sinter, oven pushings and saleable cold rolled steel. The quarter also witnessed new benchmarks in blast furnace productivity, coke rate, coal dust injection, energy efficiency and water conservation, besides several monthly and daily production records.
The plant also registered record secondary sales of coal chemicals, maintained the lowest secondary steel inventory, strengthened employee welfare through gift cards for contract workers, and reinforced its “Safety First & Always” philosophy with strict implementation of SAIL’s Zero Tolerance safety rules.
Following the exceptional quarter, Bokaro Steel Plant said it is well positioned to sustain the momentum and make a significant contribution to SAIL’s overall performance during the current financial year.
