In a significant step towards women empowerment and community development, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Department of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Dolons Boutique & Handicraft Trust on Monday. The initiative aims to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for underprivileged women from villages in BSL’s peripheral areas under the ‘Rachayitri’ project.
Under the programme, 25 women will receive skill training in Kantha stitch embroidery, beauty therapy, and organic soap making. The 12-month project will include not only vocational training but also handholding support and assistance in generating sustainable sources of income for the beneficiaries.
The MoA signing ceremony was attended by BSL’s senior management, the General Manager (CSR), Dolon Mukherjee, Secretary of Dolons Boutique & Handicraft Trust, and members of the CSR team. During the programme, the Trust highlighted the project’s objectives and the employment and self-employment opportunities it is expected to create for the participating women.
The initiative reflects BSL’s continued commitment to the socio-economic development of its peripheral communities and the empowerment of women through skill development. By equipping women with market-oriented skills and supporting their livelihoods, BSL aims to strengthen the rural economy while advancing its CSR mission of building an inclusive and self-reliant society.
