The Centre has allocated 11 Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Labs for Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and polytechnics in Jharkhand under the IndiaAI Mission, with six institutions already identified for implementation. The announcement was made by Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha to questions raised by Rajya Sabha MP Parimal Nathwani.
The Data and AI Labs, established under the IndiaAI FutureSkills pillar, will offer training in artificial intelligence, data annotation, data curation and applied data science to help develop a skilled workforce in emerging technologies.
The Minister also informed the House that Jharkhand has been allotted two Artificial Intelligence Centres of Excellence under the IndiaAI Startup Financing pillar. The centres aim to strengthen the state’s AI innovation ecosystem by supporting startups, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and academic institutions.
Under the IndiaAI Fellowship programme, Jharkhand has received eight fellowships, including two for undergraduate students and six for PhD researchers pursuing AI-related studies.
The Minister said the IndiaAI Mission, approved on March 7, 2024, with an outlay of ₹10,371.92 crore over five years, is being implemented through seven pillars to promote AI adoption, innovation, research and skill development across sectors, including governance, education, healthcare, agriculture and disaster management.
