A joint team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Ranchi Police on Monday conducted a raid at the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) headquarters in connection with allegations of irregularities in the 14th JPSC Preliminary Examination.
The action was initiated after investigators took cognisance of complaints alleging procedural lapses and irregularities in the examination process. The operation was led by the Ranchi City Superintendent of Police.
During the raid, the entire JPSC headquarters was cordoned off to prevent unauthorised entry and to ensure that no documents or other potentially relevant materials were removed from the premises. A large contingent of police personnel, including Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), inspectors, sub-inspectors and armed forces, was deployed to maintain security and law and order.
Strict security arrangements were put in place from the main entrance to various sections of the commission’s office. The movement of employees inside the headquarters was also temporarily restricted while the search was underway.
According to sources, the investigation team is examining allegations of large-scale irregularities and procedural violations in previous JPSC examinations and recruitment processes. Officials are scrutinising files, digital records, computer hard drives, merit list documents and other records that may be relevant to the investigation.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a gherao of the JPSC headquarters on July 22, demanding action over the alleged irregularities in the examination process.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the outcome of the raid or whether any documents or electronic devices have been seized. The investigation is continuing.
However, sources said that three persons including the examination controller have been detained for questioning by the probe agencies at the time of filing of the report.
Also, sources said that the office of the outsourcing agency that conducted the JPSC civil services examination named TDPL has also been sealed by police.
