Thirteen-year-old martial artist Arhan Alam from Jharkhand brought laurels to the state and the country by winning a gold medal at the 18th WEKAF World Arnis Championship 2026, held at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.
The prestigious international championship witnessed participation from teams representing 27 countries, making Arhan’s achievement a significant milestone in his young sporting career.
Competing in his category against strong international opponents, Arhan delivered an impressive performance throughout the tournament to clinch the gold medal. His victory at such a young age has been hailed as a proud moment for both Jharkhand and India.
A Class VIII student of DAV Public School, Ranchi, Arhan has emerged as one of the state’s promising young martial artists. His success has brought recognition not only to his school but also to Jharkhand’s growing presence in international martial arts competitions.
Speaking after his victory, Arhan credited his achievement to the guidance of his coach, Shifu Bishwajit Karmakar, and the unwavering support of his family. He said their encouragement and training played a crucial role in helping him succeed on the global stage.
Arhan said it had always been his dream to represent India at the international level and bring glory to both the nation and Jharkhand. Winning the gold medal at the World Arnis Championship, he said, marked the fulfilment of that dream and would inspire him to work harder for future international competitions.
