Reiterating the state government’s commitment to improving healthcare services and strengthening institutional capacity, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday distributed appointment letters to 262 newly selected candidates and announced that more large-scale recruitments and structural reforms would be undertaken in the health sector in the coming years.
Addressing a function organised at the Jharkhand Ministry, Soren formally handed over appointment letters to candidates selected for various posts under the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the National Health Mission (NHM). The appointees include 56 Food Safety Officers selected by the JPSC, 151 contractual Specialist Medical Officers under NHM, 29 Senior Hospital Managers and 26 Finance Managers.
Congratulating the newly appointed officials, the Chief Minister said the government was continuously working to bring every section of society into the mainstream of development. He said adequate human resources were essential for the state’s overall progress and that the government had been carrying out recruitment drives on a large scale across sectors to accelerate development and improve public service delivery.
Urging the recruits to perform their duties with sincerity and integrity, Soren said they should remain sensitive to the needs of the people and ensure that citizens receive quality services. “The government will stand shoulder to shoulder with you, but you must discharge your responsibilities with honesty and dedication,” he said.
Emphasising the importance of healthcare, the Chief Minister said strengthening the state’s health infrastructure and manpower remained a key priority. He noted that there was still a need to augment the workforce in the sector and assured that further appointments would be made to improve the delivery of healthcare services. According to him, a strong and efficient healthcare system forms the foundation of a developed state, and the government was taking concrete steps in that direction.
Soren said providing timely, accessible and quality healthcare to the people was the responsibility of the government and continuous efforts were being made to ensure that medical facilities reached every section of society. He added that qualitative improvement in healthcare services was among the government’s top priorities.
Highlighting the challenges faced by the health sector, the Chief Minister said both rural and urban areas required sustained efforts to address issues related to infrastructure, specialist manpower, availability of resources and timely treatment. He referred to the Covid-19 pandemic as an example of the unprecedented situations that healthcare systems could face and said the experience had underscored the need for innovation, coordination and prompt decision-making.
“To effectively tackle such challenges, innovation, efficiency and preparedness are essential. Healthcare systems need to adapt to changing times through the use of modern technologies, improved management practices and quick response mechanisms,” he said.
The CM said the government was focused on ensuring that emergency healthcare services remained prompt and effective and that systems at all levels were being strengthened to guarantee quality treatment for patients. He added that continuous efforts were being made to provide affordable, accessible and better healthcare facilities to the people of Jharkhand.
Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh, Special Secretary Neha Arora, National Health Mission Campaign Director Shashi Prakash Jha, senior officials of various departments and hundreds of newly appointed candidates were present at the programme.
