The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Election Management Committee on Saturday held a high-level meeting to chalk out its strategy for the upcoming Panchayat elections and discuss the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state.

The meeting, held at the State Guest House in Morabadi, was chaired by Jharkhand Congress president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh and attended by state Congress in-charge K. Raju.

During the meeting, party leaders deliberated on strengthening the Congress organisation at the grassroots level and prepared a comprehensive strategy for both the Panchayat polls and the SIR exercise.

Addressing the gathering, K. Raju said the forthcoming Panchayat elections would be the first in Jharkhand after the implementation of OBC reservation. He stressed that strengthening the Panchayati Raj system is a key responsibility of the Congress as a national party, adding that strong panchayats are essential for building a strong state and nation.

He announced that divisional-level conferences of block presidents would be organised in June to ensure a strong Congress presence in the elections. The conferences, he said, would effectively mark the party’s campaign launch for the Panchayat polls.

State Congress chief Keshav Mahto Kamlesh highlighted the importance of the ongoing SIR process and said Booth Level Agents (BLAs), Panchayat presidents and block presidents would play a crucial role in ensuring its success. He said the party’s objective was to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral rolls.

Kamlesh added that the proposed divisional conferences in June would also feature detailed discussions on the SIR exercise alongside preparations for the Panchayat elections.

Among those present at the meeting were Election Management Committee members Banna Gupta, Ravindra Singh, Bhim Kumar, Jaleshwar Mahto, Rama Khalkho, Sunil Sahay, Abhilash Sahu and Sunit Sharma.

The information was shared by Jharkhand Pradesh Congress general secretary and media department coordinator Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo.
